I've finally finished 5 pieces for senior thesis.
Originally, I was planning on doing 7.
I am a terrible person.

Kirin from Monster Hunter.
I've been trying out working full digital (no scans, all photoshop) and I can't decide if I like it or hate it. It definitely has its advantages, but I'm not really used to it yet, so it's frustrating at times.

Bayonetta again.

Asuka and Bayonetta.

I adore how Hyung-tae Kim colors, and I had some time to procrastinate...
Which led to the pic above of Reith from Magna Carta, colored like how he does (kind of. I triiiieeeed it's so haaaarrrrrd)
His outfit designs are wicked complicated, which makes any sort of fan art of his stuff very laborious to do.

Something different

Because I love the show.

Thesis part one. Six more to go...

Testing out the new tablet pen after the sudden sad death of the old one. I had just gotten that pen a year or so ago. What a bitch.
I wish I could find some sort of middle ground between the painterly look and the inks+coloring look.

Darkstalkers is an awesome game. Classic character designs.

Back to school.

Daniella from Haunting Ground.

So Wonder Festival was fantastically geeky as expected!
It was about 100 degrees that day, super sunny/clear blue sky with practically no clouds which is rare here in TKY.
Practically died in the sun waiting for WF to start..... but once we got in it wasn't too bad (thank god for AC) except the smell. Seriously, is a shower too much to ask? The smell of sweat I can tolerate, but the smell of fermented butt cheese I cannot. WTF.
The general ratio of guys to girls was 9:1, but most of the cosplayers were girls, the majority of them in skimpy costumes. It was hot after all. Saw some girl as Yoko (Gurren Lagann) who actually had boobs!

Anyway, I'll upload some photos soon. Will definitely be going again next summer!

Saw the Evangelion 2.0 movie today.
Seriously, Unit 01 running around Tokyo-3 was so glorious... 最近のアニメスゲーーーーーー! I want the DVD naooooooooooooooooo!!!

Friday, July 3, 2009

Evangelion marathons that start at 2am leads to lots of midnight junkfood, but what I really should be doing is giving senior thesis some thought... anybody have some good ideas they can spare?? (;ω;)

I plan on seeing the second EVA movie and going to Wonder Festival to take some pics of PVC figures being tentacle raped. Yaaay Japan!

So the semester is officially over. That means I get to draw whatever the fuck I want. I am excited.

Fantasy Art: concept art and all that good stuff for a video game that came out before 2000.
I chose Bobby (aka scissorman) and his baby brother Dan from Clock Tower: The First Fear. Had a lot of fun with this stuff.

1.5 weeks of school left. I need a break so bad, but so does everybody else.
Will post more things once finals are over.
ちなみに二番目に好きなのはサイクロップスたんだお( ^ω^)

Illustration for "The Werewolf" which is a short story by Angela Carter. I have 2 more bw pieces, but I'm not too fond of those = no scans :D

Moisture is the essence of wetness

Kenny and I decided to draw mermaids while waiting around for individual crits in Fantasy Art. Never mind that we were supposed to work on our homework in class...
... Wish I had more art stuff to post... perhaps time to do a sketch dump?

I HATE BACKGROUNDS. At least with nature I can fudge bits and it won't really matter.

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Lots of small but stressful things happening this week... I'm hoping April will be a better month. March was kind of lame.

Who Watches The Watchmen?

Spring break has been pretty great so far. I have been sleeping as much as I'd like, which makes me unbelievably happy.

Went to the St. Patrick's Day parade with cait o and alison on Sunday. Totally thought it was going to be a low key, bunch of local old people dressed as leprechauns kind of thing. I WAS WRONG. Quite epic actually. Assloads of Irish step dancing, bagpipes, marching bands, Irish Wolf Hounds, and of course, a parade float for Guinness.

Aaand to keep myself up to par with the geekdom that is the illustration department, I went to Towson to see the Watchmen movie. I'm one of those bastards who hasn't read the original graphic novel (shame, shame on me really) but I still enjoyed the movie lots. I will find it and read it. Also, MUST DO FANART.

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere. Fan art is f-cking good fun.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

It is finally spring break... it will be filled with glorious amounts of sleep and mindless fanart doodlings!

Illustration Concepts homework. We chose objects from a pile that was selected by our teacher, and then basically did anything we wanted. My thing was an old perfume ad. Yay drawing girls!

Baba Yaga

Fantasy Art homework: 1 color, 2 b&w illustrations for a fairy tale. I decided to do Baba Yaga. Most everyone in the class did too, so we will be critiquing a lot of old hags and girls and houses with chicken legs.

... So I only have two so far. I still have lots of time to do a third one, but I don't know... kinda worn out and not really feeling my third sketch. Plus my printer ran out of ink. I'm going to think about it.

...Actually, I'm not going to make it sound like I might do it; I won't, and I'll just have to deal with having only two pieces. Merp.

Inspiring stuff #1

Since I have much work to do and no time to do personal tidbits, I'm going to share other people's work that I find inspiring and pretty.

Barnaby Ward! Cute girls and a fantastic sense of color. He has some great illustrations of Alice in Wonderland too. Blogger trims the images a bit weirdly, but you get the idea. Awesomeness.

Aaaaand Dwight.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

The angel Arael from Evangelion. I want all of the Angel-XX series.

Monday, March 2, 2009

Sailor Saturn. I was going to do Neptune and Uranus, but that was too much work.

Girly semi albino dragon. I would really like a full snow day since we haven't had one since freshman year, but I guess I only deserve a snow "hour or two". Blargh.
*EDIT* There is a god after all. FULL SNOW DAY. Thank you.

Buckets! Girls! A Raging Fire!

Concepts stuff. Keynesian economics and the stimulus package.

Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Favorite pokemon from each type meme. Hey, why not. I'm bored. I like pokemon. I now know that I like dragons and the weird round ones. It's in Japanese but I'm sure you can guess what type is what.

When you're bored, you do weird things
Like draw Putin in a KGB uniform.
When he was young.

He's quite cute when he's young too. Google it.

I will leave your diapers dripping!

So I was checking out Emma's blog, and was really drawn to this piece. I knew Repo! existed, but I was totally put off by the fact that Paris Hilton was in it. Well, thanks to procrastination and youtube, I am in love. I guess I have a thing for creepy characters (Hisoka from Hunter×Hunter is seriously my first "manga" love) because so far Pavi is my absolute fave. And Paris is actually kind of perfectly fine (dare I say good) as Amber Sweet. I really need to find a way to see this campy goodness.

Procrastinating is grrrreat.

I feel like elves are always archers...

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I've decided to try and upload everyday. Or at least every other day. Or at least once a week. I need to do more stuff.

Tea drinker

I dunno. Sketchbook stuff.

Fantasy Art class final, the Yamata-no-Orochi myth.
There's something about it that makes me want to redo everything, but the crit went pretty nicely so I dunno. I'm ready to move on to the next assignment.

A Very Sad Place

First official homework post of the year/semester, I think. Alifbay thing for Illustration Concepts II finished. I really need to have the inking finished before hand because it was a BITCH to do everything at once. Sooo over this thing. Ready to move on!

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

You know when you decide to procrastinate by drawing things other than the homework you should be doing, and then you decide to just keep working on it because you just want to see where it goes, and then after a couple of hours you suddenly realize you're totally procratinating waaay too much and you're worn out and you just want to go to sleep?

I mean it was fun and everything, but I have NOTHING done for class.

(Characters from Tohou Project / the Scarlet sisters. I used to think their designs were so weird but they've grown on me, especially Flandre's jewel wings)

Baby Orochi

I'm doing the myth of the yamata-no-orochi (which is basically a Japanese Hydra) for one of my classes. This is one of the studies I did for it in my sketchbook that I thought would be nice to color up, but I'm sick of it now so I don't think I'll ever finish it.

Digital painting keeps me occupied and up at night, which is great since I have days where I need to stay up all night or I won't get to class on time. I know that doesn't make any sense. It doesn't make any sense to me either.
